CHICAGO –Today Bosch announced the addition of the 18-volt and the 14.4 -volt 3 1/4-inch
cordless planers to its continually growing cordless power tool family. Designed with many of
the same Bosch features and benefits that have made their corded cousins industry leaders;
woodworkers, cabinetmakers, trim and finish carpenters, framers, and installers will appreciate
the convenience of never running out of cord and the performance the new cordless models offer.
Perfect for trimming or beveling door and window edges, rabbeting for joinery, trimming
protruding window jambs or scribing workpieces to fit irregular surfaces, the new units are the
only 18 and 14.4 –volt cordless 3 1/4-inch planers on the market. And now with Bosch cordless
planer models, the ideal cordless power tools, professionals can have the same Bosch
performance and never worry about snagging or running out of cord in the middle of a long cut.
Large workpieces end up smooth and clean.
Each planer includes two reversible Bosch Woodrazor micrograin carbide blades, which
provide a finer finish, up to 30 percent longer life than standard carbide blades, and resist
fractures from accidental nail or staple strikes. The unique electronically-balanced single blade
cutting head holds the Woodrazor blade at an optimal angle, to provide the fastest results,
smoothest finish, and longest battery life of any professional cordless planer.
In addition to the convenience of cordless, two other features lend themselves to personal
adaptability. Both planers feature the Bosch patented two-way chip ejection switch to direct
shavings either left or right and an ambidextrous lock off switch accessible from either side. For
added control, professionals will be happy to know that the two new models feature an on/off
switch with an electronic brake. They also accept vacuum hoses, which may be connected to a
portable or shop vacuum system.
Woodworkers and other planer users demand the highest level of accuracy in their work. For this
reason, Bosch included its simple and intuitive cutting depth adjustment system, which ranges
from zero to 1/16-inches and a front shoe that includes three V-shaped chamfer grooves for
precision cuts at various depths. Front and rear shoes are machined as a set and adjusted at the
factory for perfect alignment, and both units include an edge guide fence for accurate cuts, and a
chip bag for a cleaner workplace.
Each 53518 18-volt and 53514 14.4-volt 3 1/4-inch planer kit includes the following:
