If you would like to test the batteries yourself, you can by following the directions in the article "How to Test Your Batteries".
If you have an ohm meter you can measure the resistance across the Plus(+) and Minus(-) terminals. If the meter reads less than 1,000 ohms, then your battery is bad. You need to replace it.
If your old charger melted or your batteries are older than 1 ½ to 3 years old, our recommendation to you is to purchase a new battery in addition to the new charger to prevent damaging your new charger.
